Sunday and the car is still running rough at idle.



I adjust the idle settings once more but know that really I need to get under the car and adjust the fuel pump timing. But its like siberia out here so I don't.



Instead i climb in and head to Habour to take Matt his birthday card round and to see if he was in a hung over state. But he wasn't in full stop. mind i'm sure he'll like the card. not a lot else happens really I even get to do my ironing which has collected over the last two weeks! eck.

Starter motor 2 came and it was cold outside.i got up early to go to the optians. On the way I saw Mrs Poade at the bus stop and collected her and off we went ot Wolvo. At the opticians she had called in sick, and then they couldn't find the contact lense either. I got my hair cut and then went back home. It was stiol cold outside and I considered putting the starter moto on. and considered it again. and then....



I got on and did it. Surprisingly its not quite the same but it does fit. and more importantly it does start the car up pronto. And so I felt some what better.



Once I was back indoors I turned on my lava lamps to warm me up and



calm me down. I was ment to have gone and seen matt as it was his birthday but I was also going out else were too.



Well here's my hair cut after being washed. Went to the sportman, nice in there these days.



And so the night moved on and I went into Wolvo to the Civic Hall....



With a beer between my legs on the secind row to the front I awaited the one and only.....



Jimmy Carr. Well what a few hours of great entertainment that was. i nearly forgott about the gig it was so long ago it was booked.

Look morzine is white at last..... But will it last. I hope so.



And I have also booked a holiday for March. not in Val thorens as usual but in Tignes. In fact in the same apartment block Matt, Rob and Me stayed in a few years back. It would appear the www.skigb.com appartment s are no longer available direct and a similar apartment is now £700 and not £450. I'm sorry but that isn't value for money and I'm not payingit for a box room. So goodbye VT and hello Tignes. It may seem like an odd dicision to some as I subbed it when the Snowboarding Club have chosen to go to Tignes this year too. But their package just wasn't what i would call spectacular value for money. I'll miss the company but sometimes you need your own space, and you can have it for pretty much not much more money. Lets hope my mom gets well enough to come and enjoy this high famous resort.


My mom is finaly out of hospital, well when I say finally she will still have to visit, but is at home sweet home. And on sunday she insisted on cooking me a breakfast. who was I to say no.



And after my lovely breakfast I thought it may well be best to get some exercise. First time in ages and now with Morzine looming so close I need to go every night. And boy having not gone seems to have reaaly upset my fittness. Back to square 1 by the looks of it???

The Cavalier didn't run for long until I got probelms. The starter motor died. Must have been those 6 hours of priming the pump! Anyway a replacement came on Friday just in time for the artic weekend. When I opened the box I didn't think the right one had been sent. Having got the old one off I know the right one hasn't been sent...

You may well ponder what is going on as there have been a lack of blog entries. Well it would appear i12.com are no longer playing ball. The standard modem number will not let me log on anymore, but if I use one of the other numbers they have it will! But then the FTP will not allow log in after anyway to upload! This isn't great news - what I have got up already is stuck there and can't be deleted and some of it I don't want to be. I have tried to ring them on their premium rate 75p number but have that doesn't get answered. I think its the end. It s time to move. It was good while it lasted but now??? who knows.


My mom finally leaves hospital. She's still got a long way to go to recover but its great just to have her home.

Last Friday I sent my old passport off for renewal via first class post. None of the post office checking stuff. I thought I'd be waiting 4 weeks and would be cutting it a bit fine for my holiday to Morzine. However I was wrong and it was with me on Wednsday! Thats 3 working days!



Here it is then my new passport. Phew waht a photo!



The one it replaces which was overused, water damaged, dog eared and the plastic coating coming off - to which I had been told its no longer valid and I should let you back into the country. Of course I would have liked to say how wants to come back to Britiain its full of illegal imigrants that some customs arse let through. But thats that.



And the one prior to that where I look young.



After all these years I've only ever got a few stamps. One for the USA.



One for visiting and leaving Cyprus.



Snd teo for the Cheq Republic before it was in the E.U. one for entering by plane and one for entering by car.

Do you remember Mobile Windscreens came round in September and replaced my rear windscreen at around 8:30pm? Well having had the car on the road for a few days since I noticed the rear window would no longer demist. I consider for a moment that I may have let some experts touch my beloved car.



When I got a moment one dinner time I took off the boot window surround and what did I find the experts had done.



For those of you who can't see....



They seemingly expertly didn't bother fitting the wires on the positive side. Now this really is bad. For anyone who realises that the rear heated window will in most case take its power directly from the alternator for the high current drain and hence the thick wire. If it wasn't for a fuse then this could have been the end of the car in in a huge electrical firse. The seperate metal tab it joins onto I pulled out of the insert hole.



Of course the earth side was no better. The wire simply snipped.



Well I sorted the wiring out myself. The only way in this world you can garantee you don't get fucked over. It works now oddly. I just hope the connection doesn't come off and no I haven't just tapped the wires togeather....

Well Autovaux came up trumps eventually. The first parcel they sent seems to have got lost but after I called them they eventually sent me out another set! Thankgod. Well above is shown the new feul return rail and inlet manifold gasket.



First we have to position this washer in the injector. The holes allow he fuel to pass through it to the fuek return rail. Now it seems obvious to me the get SVO through these tiny holes on a cold morning may well be to much for the old pump.



I suppose you could drill them out but I'm not going to bother. Anyway you can see how they fit under the rail like so.



They are placed on the top of each fuel injector



Then the fuel rutrn rail is postioned on top and the injector nozzels put into position and tightened. the engine is then tried and yippe it still works!



Would apper it does!



Well while the manifold is off its time to remove the famous white ring from the fuel pump to give the car more ooooph.



First undo the top cove plate of the pump. There are four bolts.



One of the bolts also holds on a return pipe and until you can get this out of the way you cannot remove the top.



The other end of the pipe enters the pump here.



The union joint is easily removed with a spanner.



Once loose, unscrew it with your fingers.



When finaly unscrewed remove it



along with the pipe.



Now the cover plate can be removed so that you can see the black diaphragm.



Do NOT remove the diaphragm yet.



You need to mark its position. Very important or things aren't going to run properly later! See red pen mark.



The diaphragm can now be removed, by lifting straight up.



The diaphragm is connected to a plunger which controls the fueling. Under the diaphragm there is a white ring. Can you see it?



Perhaps this is a bit clearer.



Slide the white ring down the plunger stem and remove.



How exciting this is. I can add it to all the other bits that I took off the car and yet don't seem to have a home on the car to be put back on to!



Replace the pluger and diaphragm so that it is the correctly marked position.



Put the caover plate and pipe back on, then the whole manifold back on and pray the car will now work.
