There's a parrot in my car

A box came in the post today and I pondered what might be in it. I couldn’t remember ordering anything that small. In fact what was in the box was a parrot and a whole lot of wires.

A lot of pondering with what to do with the wires and where to run them, a few hours later the parrot is installed in the car all connected up to the MFD unit and working great.

If only I knew someone to call………

Going backwards

With all these phatnoises I thought it would be best to invest in an old laptop with some power and windows XP installed as the software works miles better with XP than the newer systems. An so here we have my new HP Compaq 6510b with 2GB 120GB HD and all the whistles, the software’s loaded and all the phat cartridges and hacked cartridge working properly. This laptop is solely going to be used for this.

A nip and tuck up to Chester

Monday and I unexpectedly when to Chester with my dad and mom. It was a quick up and back visit with some dinner on the way home in a pub off the A41. The first pub we went to and had been to before was closedSad smile. So the next pub was a pot luck jobby, but what a surprise. Great service from great staff followed by great food from a great chef. Will be stopping here again. Not cheap but then when its this good it doesn’t matter. Oh yes it was called the Egerton Arms near Whitchurch I think. Try it I doubt you’ll be disappointed.

Enjoying a new friend

It must have been time to get up as I was woken by Katie drinking my morning drink. Great..

She then disappeared. So I went for a shower. But guess who had beat me there.

Erm she won’t like it when I turn the water on…

Do it all again

I got home on Friday night and my dad was all set to get on with the timing belt with his Skoda. So eventually I got up on Saturday morning and got my hands dirty with him. We got the belt off and the new one on just before it started raining. And there we stopped for the day. I’m sure “we’ll” finish it tomorrow.

Lighting up the boot

Considering the boot in the Skoda Superb is so big, some one forgot it might well have been worth lighting it up a bit better than they did. And so I brought some 2 X Car Truck Universal Day Fog Aux 6 LED White Light units from mlgb1234.

I put two in the hollows near the back and two in the recess to get at the third brake light. I wired them directly to the boot bulb it is cam bus controlled via a crystal inside the light fitting. So much brighter now its great – you can see all the junk in there!

Mosley Old Hall

(Click the photo above for all the photos)

After a lovely breakfast, Alan, Zoe and myself head off to Moseley Old Hall. It one of those places so close to where you live that I’ve never actually been.

We have a tour around the house, by an enthusiastic tour guide. We are shown the secret hiding place, which must be after all these years the least secret hiding place in the world.

After which you are free to wander around again for as long as you want.

Oh course this is all very hungery work. So we stop off at the cafe

And have some scones. They also have a second hand book shop where I get a book on how to learn to snowboard.

It is time to leave as Alan and Zoe have to go back up north.

And so I wave Zoe off on her longest drive yet wandering when I will see them again. It was within 10 minutes.

Wilson Green

I went round the Greenies for tea. Wilson was there and luckily he seems to  let all the excitement ride over him as long as he can lick you all over. For tea there was a menu of Cornish Pastie and Chips or The Big Breakfast Pastie and Chips. I choice the Cornish pastie, which as a surprise tasted very much like a cooked breakfast. To burn off all these calories we took the dog for a walk.

Of course the Greenies are very experienced dog handlers….

So its lucky Les was there so that the dog catcher didn’t need to be caught!

Lighting up the dragons

Bored and nothing better to do I brought some 13 SMD Xenon white LED bulbs R10W 1156 245 BA15S off ebay. Then I fitted them to the rear number plate bulb holdrrs. Erm but they did not work. A pain in the butt it is but with LED bulbs you have to have them the right way round. And if you can’t put them in the other way round then you have to chop the wires and swap them over. And so that is what I had to do. The y are nice and bright and light up the dragons nicely

And so that was all the fun to be had that night…..

The Help

I’ve had a couple of Love Films lately which I haven't had time to watch. This one in particular has been hanging around, but I had some spare time come up after going to the gym, so I wanted nothing more than to spend the rest of the night on the sofa watching this film. I mention this one in particular as I wasn’t expecting it to be upto much but in fact it has a few nice twists in it. Well it made me smile when things turned out happily ever after, or as dam near it anyway….

I have managed to pick up another Phatnoise box, not that I need one but I wanted one just in case one of the others stopped working. Having got one I’d not like to live without one so this is going into storage. I’ve given it a wirl and I’ve phathacked it. Its a beaut.

The end of something so good

After a great two weeks of sport it all comes to a satisfying end.

Bad habits

I really ought to get out of bed, but today and yesterday I've been really tired. Saying that Katie is getting into a bad habit of sleeping on my bed.

A Scottish Sunday

We wake up on Sunday, tidy the apartment and pack our bags.

Les and myself go for a walk to collect our cars, and then sit in traffic for ages. The dribble of fuel in my tank getting less and less. It does give me a moment though to get out and post a post card. We collect the others and then head out of town towards a Sainsbury's Les knows so that I can refuel. It however did not have a petrol station. Gulp. On the horizon I spot yet another Morrison's and so head there. My point card must be doing well. I rejoin Les and then about 5 miles later he stops for fuel at a Tesco????

We don’t take the obvious route home, instead LEs takes us some wild natural and very wet route.

Where the road turns into a river and then back to a road aging. Much more pleasant though than the usual route.

We make a pit stop for the toilet and then head further east, the weather improved enough now to have the top down for a while.

Eventually he stops in a car park.

We are here the Grey Mare’s Trail and The Roaring Linn waterfall.

For some reason Les thinks I’m going to take the high path?

He was so wrong. I may want to see the waterfall but I don’t want to walk for an hour and half to see it slightly better.

As you can see the view we got was alright from the low path

Of course though its always nicer to get nearer.

Not with the zoom lens though.

So I take a video before I consider getting closer.

So we read the sign on the barrier and clamber around it. Safety in numbers and all that.

So a barrier is not going to stop us but

A missing bridge is and there was no way round this. I did most definitely look but considered my life more valuable.

And so a zoom with Lens would have to do.

Smile for the camera.

It was time to retrace our footsteps

Clamber back round the barrier and get back to the car.

And so we left in the direction of Moffat where I stopped to refuel before getting on the motorway and heading south. We stopped at Teebay for dinner and mooched onto home for about 9pm. It had been a lovely weekend away.
