I was awoken by Alan shaking me at 7:30am and saying “get up you have 30 minutes until the train leaves”.
I had no idea where we were going or why, Alan even got the tickets. But I did know we where heading North West as that was the platform we were on.
“look at him Alan I don’t think he’s awake yet, how do you think he managed to put his cloths on” said Zoe with them both starring at me.
The train came and
We got on. I stretched out and pondered
Don’t they ever need to sleep?
Sometime latter we arrived at Manchester Piccadilly, where we changed trains and then some time later
on a now full train we arrived at
Liverpool Lime Street. We got some provisions and then got our bearings.
Apparently we had come to see some puppets.
“Nack your going to love this” exclaimed Zoe.
We went into Home Bargains and came out with plasters and glow sticks. And when we came outside the crowd had grow and official people were there.
“look Nack here come the puppets” said Alan.
These were not the puppets I was expecting!
Here is Granma some 20ft high being controlled by a crane and lots of manpower.
“Jezz Nack look at the size of that thing” said Zoe.
Then a big wheel chair came down the road. And I mean BIG.
the crowd dispersed.
And that left enough room for Zoe to entertain the crowd for a short while.
Then there was more action and a puppet dog came down the road.
the crowd was estatic.
And this got the dog all excited
and had a pee.
I think he wanted to get at the dog food in Home Bargains, but he was too big for the doors.
He also slobbered too, yukkk.
The dog disappeared, was there more to come?
“Alan is there more?” I aksed
And then a Giant girl started walking down the road.
Getting closer and
Oh my look at those fabulous sandals.
Hold on the dog has come back up the road too.
the amount of puppeteers to get them walking was amazing.
And all dressed up so smartly on this warm day.
As the puppets went down the road the crowds followed behind. We looked at the map and the route and planned to find them a bit further on.
We found a nice bit of park to sit in.
and there down the road came the puppets.
And roar of the crowd and the atmosphere and buzz was truly amazing.
Off she strolled down the road.
Where next ?
To the next even place of course!
And now the girl was getting a lift on the Arriva bus.
With the dog ahead of her still walking like they do.
and slobbering on the crowd.
Yeah after all this walking I’d like to have a sit down too.
A story is being told as she passes by.
The crowd disperses once more and Zoe starts to play. The crowds though take no notice and go!
We make our way back toward the station where the tour is meant to end.
And whilst the girl is slowly coming round the corner.
Grandma has already made it to her rocking chair and
the story that is being told is coming to an end.
As she nods off to sleep.
the crowd move along
and a plane appears in the sky.
Liverpool giants it says
And then there is movement once more.
The girl is moving again
the dog is too
and off she strides across the square
towards her bed too
she goes to sleep.
We walk with the now thousands upon thousands towards the station
oh look at the queues,
were never going to get to Steph’s Birthday bash.
We are at first put in the Manchester Piccadilly Queue which we are directed to, and then notice a different one for Manchester Oxford Road, with only a few people, so we head for that and within minutes
We are sat on a train and Aland and Zoe get busy doing something on their phones!
“So Nack was it worth getting up for then?” they asked.
We arrive at Oxford Road station and it becomes obvious, there are no trains to Manchester Piccadilly or Davenport for some time!
Eventually though there is one, just don’t look at your watch, time is passing by quickly.
