I wake up, the last thing Zoe said was make yourself at home when you wake up however early it is. However I decide to stay in bed, get my lap top out and take the moment to catch up with my blog writing, and ebaying! Eventually though I get my arse out of bed. But only after Alan bring me a lovely bacon sandwich and cup of tea.
Once out of bed I look over the garden I love to be in. The garden I will lie in and be at one with myself, where I feel comfortable and safe, lying on the green grass. They are altering it and I await to see the final green bed for me to laze on.
There are some issues that need address in “My Room”. I’m getting worried about wet feet, or if the woodchip wall paper on the ceiling will keep it up. Alan tells me not to worry but its not his feet that are going to get wet!
And the bucket is large enough to make you worried.
I have a shower and look in my bag for something to wear, I don’t have many options, I packed light. I put on a fresh set of pants, those I have brought enough of to stay a week if necessary.
Whilst we are getting ready to go out I look behind the sofa. I’m in the safe knowledge that Alan has got everything in hand here too.
And so we leave and head to the station.
The train is full, but we manage to get a seat each. One thing is for sure. I love train travel!
We go to Traveling Man and then Piccadilly records
and wander the streets of Manchester.
I’m seeing the sights, enjoying the air.
And eventually arrive at the FAB Place, a big queue was outside.
We got in and selected out seats, Alan and Zoe had arm stools.
We went to the bar, Alan want real Ale, and both tapes ran dry when pouring, Then asked if they would do a tea for Zoe, and then I realised hell, I’m driving and I’m surrounded by beer. I ask for some non-alcoholic beer or if they have any. Nope they don't, so that's two teas then and a Bottle of Ale.
We get comfortable
And decide what to vote for. Alan assures us we do not want to vote for The War Games 10, as he has only just watched it. So all 3 of us vote for something else but the same, kind of Alan's choice.
Alan goes to the bar again, the crowd is thick now and they are ready to start.
Here we go. Now at first I thought some random old chap wanted to go to the toilet just as the show was about to begin. I was wrong. They walked toward the front seats with a pint and then walked in front of the project and then said I’d rather sit here.
So now instead of sitting how arranged he was sitting in front of the screen.
This by the way was the person we’d come to see, Who had we come to see again Alan?
The story of life was interesting, funny and at times remarkable. The atmosphere was right and the venue intimate. At the end of the talk the votes were in. And the show to be put on the big screen for all to watch was…….. Wars Games 10. Alan's head dropped into his hands. ME and Zoe giggled.
After Alan had recovered, we had another drink and Nack
wanted to sit next to the blue box. Well “Who” wouldn’t.
Alan wanted his photograph taken and an autograph,
Zoe however wanted some fun.
And so we played, whilst Alan queued.
We had fun, and Alan was expecting fun.
Missile command, what would the “youngsters make of this?”
Alan is nearly there.
And then Alan gets his “fun”. If only he’d smiled.
Whilst the place empties,
We stay longer and
bang bang your
not as good as Alan. Hold on Zoe how can this be?
Now here is a classic game, not only do I like it so does the show host, but Alan? Alan’s never heard of it, or played it!
Sometime later we are standing outside Manchester ugliest statue. Or so they tell me. Alan won’t even look at it.
And there are some things in life you should never turn your back on.
I would like tot say we took the most direct route here. I know we didn’t, they know we didn’t and for a moment I thought I knew the way better than them, but I didn’t.
Anyway the place they thought I’d never been to before, Alan had, and he’d wrote a book whilst here.
We ordered some drinks and everyone's came but mine.
We waited in anticipation, and to be honest I wasn’t looking forward to it, I just wanted to see it with my own eyes.
And eventually it came.
The Elvis shake, consisting of peanut butter, bacon and I guess milk!
Our lane is ready, our shows are on, and the balls are ready to roll, when was the last time I played???
Where is the selfie stick when you need one?
Try, try, try again, are we all in?
Then one of the staff helps us. This is great.
And surprisingly so is this.
The balls roll and
Zoe is the best.
I give it whirl, I give it a roll.
But no matter what,
There’s no stopping her,
She loves her score.
She thinks she’s won.
Alan is determined not to let this happen again, another go everyone?
And so we stay,
More expensive but awesome drinks.
More ball wanging.
Yes says Alan,
I’m not sure why they are celebrating I’m winning!
Yeah that does make it harder for me. And so fun is had, and the last game is awesomely more competitive.
It is time to head back though and they take me to the station they think I’ve never been to before, but have.
We await a chu chu to Stockport. I’d like to tell you more but can’t
What I do know though is that at Stockport, I had my very first Big Tasty, The size a burger should be, the size a big mac was when I was young. Back at Zoe and Alan's me and Alan settle in and watch Doctor Who. A couple of episodes containing Concorde, I only see the first two parts, telling Alan when I return he’ll have to watch the second two again with me.
Sometime later it is dark, I’m tired, happy and wholesale and sound. It was great it was fun, it was better than I thought.
