In the morning there is still a smell of curry in the house. The car is packed and the house locked up, we are ready to go. I get Alan and Zoe out of the local area and then let them lead – I know Alans eager to use Google to get there.
The M6 M1 and A14 interchange. One day they will finish it. An ambitious project.
Today my car is doing well a mere 58mpg.
Much time later we are in another traffic jam, with Alan no doubt using Google to get us there, in fact we don’t actually go there, where we go is Tesco. We get some food, some beer and some other essential items – such as cleansing wipes, before settling down to have a cup of tea and a bit to eat.
Back on the road we are nearly there.
Well you think so.
But then they make you drive around the parameter of the fence for miles!
And of course we get to see the Golden corn.
Gear out of the car and a long walk to the end of the queue we do the shuffle to the gate and the security searches.
I tell them my wine is in a milk carton and they are happy with with that. They don’t even check it. I wonder if Alan has a new camping knife to replace the one he got confiscated at St Pancreas?
Yay we are officially in the Secret Garden Party!
We find somewhere to put our tents up and
then head back for more stuff out of the car. Alan really enjoys this part!
And put up the flags and of course the fairy lights.
We settle into out abodes and get into the grove.
Alan wants to know what a TRS80 is, and luckily for him I had one once!
And so the party atmosphere starts
The decorations are up and
We too are decorated, lets get to it
We find a map of the area and give it a quick study.
It is time to explore with the other campers
We soon find the toilets!
I love the go happy festival atmosphere and the tall flags that decorate the land.
And on our journeys what is it we discover? I see it, yes the eggy bread van from the Wilderness festival is here!
We wander, we see, we smell
and are amazed at some of the delights.
We find the main stage and
Walk on by, Zoe always likes a selfie. Here's one slightly different where I missed myself but got her!
And take a nice one of them over looking the romantic lake.
Moving on we find the noisy area where everyone is off there face and dancing to hard core dance music.
We however are more civilised at this point and hit the Wilderness Stage where there is a band playing.
And impressive they are too.
And so we stay to watch more and more and more of The Big Moon as they are good, so dam good.
Oh yeah she can play the guitar
Now what is it Zoe is thinking?
Is that top out again? Does it still fit his belly? Is it really that old? Did he really go to it? Why is he wearing flowers in his hat?
We move on to another area, somewhere we can sit.
Enjoy the warming fire and
have a beer or cider
We enjoy the atmosphere for a while and watch the Feast of Fools shows.
Mean while in the background we can see the main stage lighting being tested for the gigs tomorrow.
And the festival becomes a beautifully light play area as the night starts to fall.
The setting would appear to be ideal, we explore some more and head to the woods.
Where there is more dance music.
I await the sound of the KLF but it never comes, as me and Alan dance on a tree stump together.
We leave the wood at the other end.
to find the tranquil area. What is that I can see?
I can see a fox.
I look up into the foxes mouth, what do I see?
We walk around the lake.
And not only find somewhere to sit,
to relax and enjoy the light shows
But also for some of us
To lie down!
Alan and Zoe go in search of toilets and beer.
I read the book of secrets.
When they come back they tell me there was no beer just Cocktails!
Oh WoW they are nice. Way too nice.
And so once we finish these they go back for more.
Only they come back with a bottle of Precetto!
We head into another wooded area. With balconies in the trees over looking bars and stages.
Yeah this is great.
This is cool.
is this Mexiaco?
Eventually it is time to find our tents
And wander the campsite back to our dark emplacement.
Here me and Zoe sit outside drinking beer and moonshine whilst we listen to the pay dodgers jumping over the fence. They seem to have a situation going on here that's out of control.
And with that we retire, Zoe gives me some earplugs and tells me to try them to help me sleep. And that they do.
