War Hero's

DSC06104

We get up and I get my camera out. I check the zoom facility across the area to the student accommodation. It seems to be working. We head downstairs for a Holiday Express breakfast. And then back up to prepare for the day.

DSC06105

It looks nice out. I’m not sure about a coat or not.

DSC06106

And so we head the way we went last night towards the town center and the Art Gallery Les advises is closed. I don’t believe him.

DSC06110

Leeds in the day time, looks a tad different.

DSC06109

Its as if there’s a hidden message.

DSC06107

But I’m not sure what it is. DSC06113

We continue inwards.

DSC06117

At the Art Gallery, it is closed. The shop however is open and I get a postcard. Ba zinger. I study the city center map outside and change the plan of where Les wants to take me to another art gallery at the Basin.

DSC06121

I reassure him Millennium Square will be worth a visit.

DSC06123

And was I wrong?

DSC06124

Like all gods.

DSC06277

I was right.

DSC06285

I guess on summers nights this place is buzzing.

DSC06288

Here also is the town hall,

DSC06292

protected by gold owls.

DSC06300

Now that would look good in the garden.

DSC06305

So from here we head toward the Basin, but I tell Les it would be nice to walk very the shopping area.

DSC06305b

And so it is.

DSC06305c

Leeds is a nice place to shop.

DSC06305d

A quint and modern area.

DSC06305f

with character.

DSC06305h

And Malls and

DSC06306

A horse that didn’t make it to Scotland.

DSC06309

Smaller but very similar.

DSC06305k

In this mall is a i-shop. I’ve never been to one and so we go in. Lots of people have gone in.

DSC06305m

I look at the gadgets, I look at the prices, I leave.

DSC06305n

Through more streets.

DSC06305o

Down more streets.

DSC06305s

Across the river.

DSC06305vv

And into a modern apartment area with its

DSC06305w

own square and bars.

DSC06312

Les I think we should have a cup of tea.

DSC06313

All we have to do is select somewhere

DSC06314

somewhere with Bamboo and

DSC06315

Where we can sit outside.

DSC06316

And so we enjoy a moment and me a quick snack.

DSC06317

After all we are going to walk it off.

DSC06319

We follow the river east.

DSC06321

Its pleasant enough but I’m not convinced we are going the right way for this art Gallery.

DSC06325

We arrive at the Docklands area. Here there is a museum.

DSC06326

And a dock.

DSC06329

And boats.

DSC06332

We wander.

DSC06341

We look at the building that is meant to come alive but doesn’t seem to.

DSC06342

I try the bar code. Nothing. Brill. Me Les and the building that doesn’t come alive.

DSC06343

And then wander into another urban living area.

DSC06347

We sit down in the garden area.

DSC06348

This is pleasant enough.

DSC06354

Les gets out his sudocream. I’ve never heard of it. And then he shows me his sunburnt chest. I look at the cream, I think it is just salaon in a different container.

DSC06349

While it is nice here, we decide to go the museum. However what we didn’t realise was…..

DSC06355

There was a lot of it.

DSC06356

The thing is

DSC06357

It really wasn’t a subject matter I was that interested in.

DSC06365

which really didn’t help.

DSC06367

However to brighten up the experience.

DSC06368

We went to the firing range.

DSC06369

And gave the crossbows a go.

DSC06371

This should be easy, if only they would stay in the targets whent hey hit!

DSC06372

A good score on that one.

DSC06373

And that one!

DSC06385

We go round the more floors of the place.

DSC06389

At some point there will be something more interesting I’m sure.

DSC06391

And then.

DSC06406

We go to a lecture about Billy the Goat who was in the Army and the humble Pigeon The War Hero! As it happens I enjoyed this bit. In fact it was the best bit of the place.

DSC06407

So it was dissapointing to go round the next floor of death. DSC06409

Amour and weapons.

DSC06413

This however was masterful.

DSC06394

So would I come here again? Would I tell other people to come here. Well yes to this work of art.

DSC06404

Grandeur weaponry display in a spiral staircase hall.

DSC06422

Simply amazing.

DSC06424

Unique.

DSC06423

Delightful.

DSC06420

If only the rest of the place had been so good.

DSC06425

As they say the best for last.

DSC06430

And with that

DSC06432

we left.

DSC06433

Upon which we were immediately greeted by a War Hero.

DSC06434

So where now.

DSC06438

Lets get the water taxi to where ever.

DSC06436

This is one long queue you know,

DSC06435

And with that the boat man calls for a party of two.

DSC06439

That's us I say and we are on.

DSC06442

Les loves every moment of it,

DSC06443

As we romantically head down the river.

DSC06444

It is so peaceful.

DSC06445

So delightful.

DSC06453

And then we arrive! At the railway station dock area.

DSC06454

We have a mooch around for somewhere for dinner.

DSC06479

We go in and out of the arches.

DSC06462

Until round the corner we find the Candlebar.

DSC06455

They have real ale and so we are happy. We check the menu and order food and then beer. I order a beer which she starts pulling. I should have know when she asked, “You wnat a pint?!” that something was wrong. Then I notice 7.8%. “Hell I yell is that 7.8% stop! Stop, I wanted something more afternoon refreshing sorry!” She stopped and said it was okay then. And selected me something very nice.

DSC06457

Lucky you or lucky me Les thought! Image you drunk at this time of the day for the rest of day!

DSC06465

Food came. Les on a log.

DSC06467

I’m not sure what was going through his mind.

DSC06466

However my superfood salad was wonderful.

DSC06470

After I ate the bowl of food. I got to do a bit of my favourite thing.

DSC06471

I wrote a while, until the card was full!

DSC06478

And so we left the candle bar. I can’t think why it is called such though?

DSC06476

And we leave the Granary Wharf.

DSC06480

Via the Golden Gate.

DSC06481

Which once inside only goes to the platforms! And hell we need a ticket. We turn around to find another escape route.

DSC06483

Which is underground.

DSC06484

Where the river flows.

DSC06485

Someone has stepped here before me, but did they survive?

DSC06486

Further along we can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

DSC06487

A while latter we find Primark. Wow it is cheap. Wow nothing fits me!

DSC06488

We arrive back at the horse where

DSC06491

The landscape buildings have been made into cakes, which are being cut up.

DSC06500

Luckily we were not hungry

DSC06504

Otherwise I would have been in that queue.

DSC06508

Oddly we ended up in a bar, that we end up in.

DSC06511

One f those up an alley.

DSC06510

For me it is Pride and Joy.

DSC06512

For him it is a nice sit down again.

DSC06513

Sometimes it is nice to watch the world go by.

DSC06514

And then other times it is nice to see a pair of legs.

DSC06515

As we walk back tot he hotel, Wow a solar array! Amazing.

DSC06516

And so we freshen up for tonight!
