The Crystal Fountain

IMG_20160709_103141

Some people like getting up early, some people don’t. I did though although not as early as I should have done. A Lotus turned up, it was time to get wet. Sometime later we were there. I park the car up.

IMG_20160709_103143

But neither us really want to get out the dryness of the car.

IMG_20160709_103248

Like a pro with a helmet in his hand, his head protection on he heads to the pits.

IMG_20160709_103245

Although when I say the pits I mean Cannon Raceway. The Midlands Premier Go Karting, and thankgod its indoors.

IMG_20160709_104250

Kitted out I want to know when its going to be my go!

IMG_20160709_104254

Matt struggles with his go pro, to only be told once he had managed to fit it, that he wasn’t allowed on the track with it!

IMG_20160709_105739

Time for me to get a helmet on.

IMG_20160709_105834

And a kart.

IMG_20160709_105846

Feel the buzz, Feel the excitement, Feel the adrenalin.

IMG_20160709_111751

And here is the grid positioning.

IMG_20160709_111758

A moment later we were in and rushing around the track, like mad men.

IMG_20160709_114057

Session one over and Matt is taking a well earned rest. I forgot how tiring this karting lark is.

IMG_20160709_114048

So Matt came first, and me? Well I came third. Not bad considering how much heavier I am. Well I’ve got to find an excuse for being 0.8 seconds slower.

IMG_20160709_120502

Set two starts and finishes.

IMG_20160709_120630

Matt is top of the league, I didn’t do so well coming seventh! what the hell.

IMG_20160709_120807

We get print outs of our laps. oooooh.

IMG_20160709_120831

And so far Mat Batchelor is Top of the Day. Well done him.

IMG_20160709_121403

I go to the bathroom to empty my bladder and check out my helmet hair. Very fetching.

IMG_20160709_133846

We head back to my sanctuary and then Hednesford where we visit the butchers and take a moment to go to the Hednesford Lodge for

IMG_20160709_133857

a bit of Lunch in the fresh air of outside. Will the rain stay off? Ohh this place is nice.

IMG_20160709_134302

And wow so many beers here too. I get one of these for Matt. A Chelsea Craft Brewing Company Beer, Based in New York and brewed exclusively for JD Wetherspoons at Banks Brewery, Wolverhampton. So a not so local, local brew.

IMG_20160709_135914

Dinner is served. Matt goes for more beer in a pie and IMG_20160709_135927

I have a superfood salad.

IMG_20160709_180934

WE take the car back t my house and head into town going into and out of some shops, but mainly going into town to go to the flower shop. Matt asks what the name of the shop is. As it happens its called the flower shop. Although its not in a shop. We go into Game and also Trade to play, and act like teenagers looking through all the games. When I suggest we go to a pub I’ve been meaning to go to, but wouldn’t go on my own. Even Google doesn’t know it exists.

IMG_20160709_164731

They have some real ales on and inside this is a nice

IMG_20160709_164941

real pub with some potential.

IMG_20160709_164948

You can tell its a real pub

IMG_20160709_171727

because there are cobs for sale at the bar.

IMG_20160709_164954

Matt has a Black Rat even though one of the locals tells him not to, as he had six of them the other day and went into a coma.

IMG_20160709_165244

With that thought I mind we head to the pool table, that has enough space around it to play pool.

IMG_20160709_165332

Its a bit like the karting really. He is better than me.

IMG_20160709_170839

Mean while I get the Rosies out and the PS2 game I got for £4.

IMG_20160709_174534

For the final game there is a twist.

IMG_20160709_174536

Ah now that's more exciting.

IMG_20160709_171656

Potential is the word.

IMG_20160709_171703

As a local walks through and says “They’re nice rosies”

IMG_20160709_175811

He is not wrong

IMG_20160709_175819

And a bargain for £2 each. That's why I like The Flower Shop.

IMG_20160709_184054

We walk a different way home, and go to The White Hart, a very old haunt of mine. Here we have a nightmare at the bar over money. But in the end we are trusted and given it back. IMG_20160709_191506

And then there is the Royal Oak. Matt looks horrified about another pub.

IMG_20160709_195030

And has a rum and coke instead. I tell him it is lucky we went this way as the other street had four more pubs in it!

IMG_20160709_224204

By the time we left that pub it was about 8pm. We went home and I got changed. Mat got his hoody. And we walked to Chadsmore and a Curry house I had not been to yet, as it being a more upper class place, I had been saving for when Alan and Zoe were coming up once. But this seemed to be the right time to try it out. IMG_20160709_211642

Err Nack I’m not sure the hoodie is appropriate.

IMG_20160709_211705

Don’t worry nobody will notice.

IMG_20160709_211631

oohhhh choices and look at this Nack.

IMG_20160709_211832

Wow two curry's on one plate! A great idea if you want your old favourite and want to try something new.

IMG_20160709_213133

As it happens the waiter selects for both of us.

IMG_20160709_213841

A nice elegant atmosphere.

IMG_20160709_214554

Oh yummy

IMG_20160709_214601

And the starters truly are.

IMG_20160709_220711

Hell where’s the Balti dish? This is outrageous!

IMG_20160709_220704

But tastes good.

IMG_20160709_220714

Matt I think I’m full. As in full full, full.

IMG_20160709_223858

And with that we pay and

IMG_20160709_224149

start the walk back. I’m ready for bed, with the thought, well I think Shebab is better!
