Scraping The Innards

DSC_0154

I didn’t get enough dog company last night. So tonight I sit with Dotty

DSC_0134

Well for a while. Something more exciting was on offer at the dinning table.

DSC_0133

With a knife in my hand I got more creative.

DSC_0131

Wonderful eh?

DSC_0139

And this was Sara’s offering. Spooky, I thought it was some Korean chap. But I was wrong. Apparently.

DSC_0141

We put a candle in mine and

DSC_0143

Scary I know.

DSC_0146

Sara is over joyed with hers. Man this was fun. So many years since I’ve done this.

DSC_0150

And we put our art creations on the window sill for the world to see

DSC_0152

and the trick and treaters.

DSC_0159

By the time I get home I realise I need to tax the dam car before tomorrow. Goodbye money…….

Nistaliger

DSC_0122

I pop by the Poades for a cup of tea, hopefully, and a bit of company. Its been a fair while since I’ve stopped by and stopped to see them. As it happens I get to see the new member of the Family, called Gracey. A big piece of meat, which in a way is cute, but also not cute. The cute collar probably helps.

DSC_0121

Andy is going though some old things and here we have a n artical from the church.

DSC_0116

And Baptised into the Family of God is Andrew William Poade. Along with Philip John Price, Mandy Jane Gould and at the same time James Timoth Green. I dont know the others.

DSC_0111

And here is a photo of a footie team which includes a whole load of young faces I know. One of them being the young Matt Poade.

DSC_0124

Andy is desperate to get rid of some boxes, and hands them over to me. Saying I think you’ll like this knowing I like my retro consoles.

IMG_20171031_132734

Inside is an Atari STFM520. ohhhhh Now this should be interesting should it work. In the rest of the boxes are floppy disc games.

DSC_0128

I find an aerial lead, switch the TV into old broadcasting aerial mode, which most don’t have now and then I plug her in, the power lamp glows, a good start. The floppy disc drive light flickers. I insert a game.

DSC_0129

Whooooopppp. Now if I can only get the mouse working. I clean the ball of the mouse and the rollers and then move it around.

DSC_0130

There is only one word for this…..Shocking, very very shocking, but then this was ground breaking back in 1989!

Fairy World

DSC00001

Having gone to bed early, I also wake up early. It is so nice outside at 6:30am.

2017-10-31_10-11-10

So I send Les a text. I don’t expect to get an answer mind. I get up anyway. If he doesn't want to go I’ll get on with something else instead. As it happens though he does eventually wake up.

DSC00002

He comes and collects me and before you know it, I ask him if he has brought the essentials. No he hasn’t and so we are off back to his house.

DSC00005

A while latter we are cruising up the motorway north with blue skies.

DSC00004

Eventually it is time to head West.

DSC_0083

We park up in the usual place and then head by foot.

DSC00007

To the mecca of the northwestern coast. It’s not often you get a day like this anymore.

DSC00010

Inside there is an impressive queue at the ticket office.

IMG_20171029_191009

So this is the Rainy Day Return Pass.

DSC00008

And here are all the items you need to bring back with you to meet the terms and conditions.

DSC_0100

The pass as it happens, lets you either return the next day for free, or one Sunday for half price. So what happens next was unexpected. I ask if we can use the Rainy Day Return Pass, and give them the bag of bits. He looks through it and goes to see the manager. I know everything you need is in there, so I’m pondering what the argument back will be. Only that doesn’t happen either. “The manager says its okay” please give me your wrists. We are banded and

DSC00011

given some new passes. “Have a nice day” he says. I look at Les and say come on and we leave the ticket office.

DSC_0084

We sit down at the cafe outside.

DSC00012

And Les pipes up, “I didn’t see you pay them”. “No” I reply. “They didn’t ask to be paid.”

DSC00013

So today is free. Even better. Even better its blue sky day.

DSC00017

I’m going to enjoy this. The tea, the day, the rides. There’s is one ride I’m going to particularly enjoy. Les looks at me – “Well the Big One is open this time”. But that is not what I had in mind.

DSC00018

We enter. There is some kind of scare fest items scattered here and there. Slightly meaningfully, slightly meaningless. Done in that half hearted Blackpool way.

DSC00021

I get Les to agree to go on the Valhalla. It looks closed. There is no queue. But it is open, there just isn’t a queue.

DSC00023

Before the boat leaves, they ensure it is filled.

DSC00025

Which of course means that when you get off. Your glad it is over and your not going to get any wetter.

DSC00026

Les I think we need to go for a spin dry.

IMG_20171029_215146

He tells me the Big One is working. I look he is right.

DSC00031

He appears to be more worried right at this moment though about the spin dry.

DSC00035

I get him on the ride though.

IMG_20171029_191142

We are off. This is going to be so scary.

DSC00042

Round and round we go.

DSC00048

And round

DSC00049

And round and round and round and round.

DSC00050

It is over. Thankgod. That is enough spinning. Right Says Les, how about the Big One then, as we look towards it again.

DSC00051

I’m thinking Les, that there is a ride right over here that I have never ever been on.

DSC00052

He looks and confirms that he has not been on it either.

DSC00054

And thus the excitement and adrenalin starts pumping.

DSC00058

This is going to be something wonderful.

DSC00055

Choices, choices.

DSC00060

Which horse should we choice?

DSC00062

This one of course for Les, Snow White I think was the name.

DSC00066

Are you ready for in a second we will be off! And you know what. Round and round we go.

DSC00072

Talking of horses, next on the non excitant agenda, was the

DSC00079

Grand National. We await the train to

DSC00080

come in.

DSC00074

And then we are off.

DSC00081

Following on from that, it looks like we are heading for the Big One.

DSC00083

But we don’t

DSC00084

This is more like it, another boat ride.

DSC00085

Well Les loved that and then we make our way to the other side of the park.

DSC00095

Where apparently the Big One is that way.

DSC00089

I suggest something more sedate.

DSC00091

This is however what I have come here for, inparticular to ride. If you read one of my earlier posts in the week, it suggested confusing the brain to ignore what it feels from our ears and to rely on your eyes.

IMG_20171029_191354

I’m not sure it worked in all honesty.

DSC00099

From here the Big Dipper.

DSC00110

What there is a queue for.

DSC00109

Eventually we are on, and then back off.

DSC00112

And so we sit in a waltzes chair for dinner.

DSC00119

Here the view inside was good, the food total cheap crappy trash of the lowest kind, I’m mean really hellish low, and behind me out of the window,

DSC00120

Was a dam good view of the Big One.

DSC00122

I try to put it out of my mind.

DSC00123

Of course there is something else that scares me here too.

DSC00124

Yes that would be the revolution.

DSC00125

Which is why I somehow got us on the chu chu.

DSC00127

Your going to love this Les.

DSC00129

Believe me you are.

DSC00131

We even get to see a camel when we stay on for the more exciting second part of the ride.

DSC00133

From here we head to Fairy World. A world full of fairy’s, fun and frolics.

DSC00144

This is one of my favorites in the park

DSC00147

Hidden in the Nikoldiean area for the kids. It is just great for adults too.

DSC00159

Well after that I went to the toilet, where I tried to hid. As it happens Les followed me in so it was hard to hide in there. And so I was dragged, literally through the gate of this.

DSC00149

It would have been good it the queue had been longer.

DSC00153

In a way a wonderful thing happened.

DSC00154

A space for the back seat opened up.

DSC00157

There was some discussion with the people around just about how scared I was.

DSC00152

But in truth the reality of this was mere meters away. I was okay up to 150ft. And then I became really scared. at 200ft I was screaming on the way up!

DSC00175

At about this point I stopped screaming, and was laughing! We wooshed around and I was loving it! The train came to a stop in the station. The girl in front quickly turned around and looked at me with a huge smile. Followed by the bloke sitting next to her. “Man I was really scared” he said. “Until you started screaming on the way up. Then I realized I wasn’t as scared as you, and hell that made me feel so much better, know just how terrified you were”. We all laugh and get out of the seats.

DSC00160

On wards to the steeple chase.

DSC00162

Me and Les share a horse. And you would think that with so much weight and gravity on our side we would win the horse race. But no we lost, and not by a little bit!

DSC00166

As it happens as we leave the Steeplechase, I try to get Les back on the Big One.

DSC00163

DSC00178

Apparently though he hates heights more than me, and he was not going back on it. I am saddened.

DSC00176

And so on to the revolution.

DSC00179

And the 70’s rollercoaster.

DSC00180

Here we go again.

IMG_20171029_215632

DSC00187

The thing is.

IMG_20171029_191905

There was no queue.

DSC00195

So we went on it at the front.

DSC00196

Over and over, and over, and over again.

DSC00185

And yes, this really was helping the brain do one of two things. Really screw up or really screw up. The thing is this Infusion roller coater is totally wicked anyway.

DSC00197

Eventually though it is time the park closed.

DSC00198

And so we make our way back tot he entrance.

DSC00199

So empty now but so nice.

DSC00202

We have been so lucky with the Blackpool weather.

DSC00203

Time to say goodbye.

DSC00211

I can’t remember having so much fun in one day at the Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

DSC00213

We leave

DSC00214

And head out on to the streets, where I told Les

DSC00215

I wanted to see the illuminations.

DSC00218

He humored me.

DSC00223

And we went for a walk.

DSC00228

All the old trams were out.

DSC00232

Horse and carriages as well.

DSC00237

It looked great.

DSC00243

It looked well tacky.

DSC00250

And yeah we ate rock on the pier.

DSC00253

It was time to find some tea though.

DSC00263

And we both knew the best place to go. So we started our walk back to the car.

DSC00264

Walked past my favorite ride.

DSC00265

Down the alley

DSC00268

And here opposite the rides.

DSC00269

Was our ride home.

DSC_0089

Les satnaved where to go and before you know it,

DSC_0090

We were here.

DSC_0091

Yep for tea tonight

DSC_0092

We were going to have fish and chips. The place was full but within ten minutes they got us a table.

DSC_0095

This was going to be great.

DSC_0098

And it was.

DSC_0105

And so we zoom zoomed all the way home with full bellies and brain that was utterly spun out of orbit.. What an utterly fun day. I felt great Smile
