Well 11 months on from the last service and it is time to change the oil in the Eunos. So I call my brother to do them both at the same time.

I get the bits from MX5parts cuz I'm lazy like that. And the post man deliveres them, cuz thats what he's paid to do.

I go in search of some decent oil at a decent price. Only to find I can't find any! So I end up buying some Halfords 10W40 part synth.

Cat litters good for soaking up 'excess oil'

When I've finished out there I hang up some new pictures, all mountain related. Then consider changing my broadband to AOL. Why did they pisss Big-L off so much????

Friday and a load of us headed up Wolvo to celebrate Kirsty's birthday. While the others went to the Quadrant Lounge I decided I'd had enough to drink. How odd of me. Well I was spending Greenie's Inxs ticket money! I couldn't spend it all on beer so I went to Jivans for a daddy of beers.

I explained I realy wasn't intrested in waiting for the greatest seat in town, was more intrested in getting my stomach fed. I was sat opposite the kitchen. Now mu meal was delicous. But can they really justify having all those staff in the kitchen. And whats in those enormas vat on the cookers they keep stirrer. Somethings it's best not to ask. Especialy when it tastes this good!

Well Saturday came and all I truely got round to doing was getting my hair cut. And thankgod my cold in my head and lungs seems to have finally lifted.

Right up to date at last. Few that took some doing ;)

Now if you want to go backwards you may well have to use the archives section found near the bottom.

Hello again at last yippe thankgod its working again. For a moment there I thought I'd made a BIG mistake upgrading to the 'NEW' Blogger Type account!

You see to blog I use a program called Wbloggar which inter-actes with or several other blog sites. However it does not properly support the 'NEW'' accounts. Which I didn't find out about until it was TOO LATE ;(

Well this kind soul blogged how he found to get round it but can you believe it, it just wouldn't work for me. Having struggled to get it to work for two weeks tonight I finaly got wbloggar to work with (the new version). I have commented my mistake on the bottom so that no other fool does the same thing.

And during all this I even started to move my blog to But now I guess I will reclose that account and carry on with Mind wordpress seems to be very popular with people who are not happy with the new blogger - on the whole because google now own it. Anyway, I have a lot of blogging to catch up on so things may be a bit slow passed here for a while as well as me feeling ill.

is this now working

Sunday and it was Liam Poades Christening day at St. Pauls, and even though I wasn't in the best of health I went.

You''ll notice Dylan wanted some camera attention too!

And perhaps Andy should make sure he doesn't drop Liam at the Christening!

The God parents - but who will admit to being Matt's!

We later swing down to the Elms for A Bit Of A Do. (Do you remember that TV series from all those years back?)

I wander what the cake tasted like ;)

Well Friday night was a night to Say goodbye to Dan who left work to go else where. I real sad day, but for some they must move on. So a few of us go up Broad Street right after work and have a fair few odd beers. Eventually its time to make it back to Wolvo, but where is the train thats meant to be at platform 2?

Its definetly not a virgin express to Wolvo so where is the train? Have they changed platform? Nope it's at platform 2 C. Where the hell is that? Well if you ask me they could do with a much bigger sign point to platform 2 C. Perhaps that what you get when you don't use the train often enough. I get to see the train leave plaftorm 2C along with 2 other customers who are mighty pissed off about the so called platform hidden away 2C.

About an hour later I'm in Wolvo and in the Cuban bar soon followed by The Quadrant Lounge with a few other people.

Amgonst the crowd is Neil.

Me in search of beer.

The Trubbies

Well I had far too many Grolsch's, which helped admire the artwork on the walls. Oddly it was really easy to get a taxi home. In fact I got two!

Yet more film footage with the Wedding Crashers. I wasn't sure weather this would be any good or not, its a definet DVD type film rather than watching it at the cinema. This is the extended version, the back cover blurrb goes like this:

More footage and more laughs makes this uncorked edition comedy the most raucous party of the year!
Guided by a set of 'wedding crashing rules' John Beck with and Jeremy Grey can charm their way into any wedding... and into the hearts of every bridesmaid. But at the biggest nuptials of the year, John breaks the rules and falls for the daughter of the US Secretary of Treasury and Jeremy is left at the mercy of her 'stage five clinger' sister. Being there for his buddy, Jeremy follows John to the family's huge estate for a weekend that may even be too wild for these professional party guys.

Well if you can get past the first boring 15 minutes this gets more and more funny. Like I said it may well not have worked at the cinema but on my sofa it did!

Well not happy with Morrissey I decide to buy the Latest Snow Patrol album. I think I prefer the last album myself but this one is definetly a well refined studio album. Nice and instantly grows on you more and more. It kinda makes my ears tingle. Odd that but I like it.

With a bad cold and nothing else to do other than sit on the sofa I decide to watch a DVD called The Truth About Charlie. The back cover says:

From the Director of the 'Silence Of The Lambs' and 'Philadelphia' comes this contemporary remake of the classic 1963 thriller Charade.
Following the death of her husband Charles, Reggie soon realises that he led a double life when she becomes the target of a ruthless gang.

Assisted by the mysterious Joshua Peters, and the US government agent Mr Bartholomew Reggie gets closer to the secret life of her husband. The clock is ticking, with no-where to run and no-one to trust, Reggie must find the truth. The Truth about Charlie.

Well perhaps not a classic but it was entertaining ot the end, I didn't even guess it, but then I wasn't even expecting a twist in the tale!

Sunday and I get time to have a look at the brakes on the Cav. Luckily its turnes out to be something inexpensive and repairable. For some odd reason even though all the other brake pads are not anywhere near worn out, one has the friction material missing of the metal mounting. I check and find some remains of the friction material in the road outside the house, how odd never had any fail like that before.

Anyway off to Halford's to get a new Ferrodo set and the brakes are back to full functionality now the snow has gone!

Saturday, February 10, 2007

I buy the Morrissey album, which is meant ot be his best to date. Odd I think its near enough nearly but not completely complete tosh. I'll just keep listening to it until I do enjoy it then.

Well it may have snowed Thursday but Friday it was also snowing. I went out in a company car just after dinner and it was sticking on the roads. Eventaully we were told we could go home. It was more of a case I wish the Cav was working but no I was in my rear wheel drive, limited diff, with great wet tyres - but allpauling in snow, MX5.

The Journey home was a slow one. I had to think of the most level way out of Birmingham and to the M6.

This ment heading into Birmingham to the Matalan Island (formally pump island), where there was grid lock. And I sat here a while listening to Radio WM.

I manage to squeeze through the tight gaps as no-one was giving an inch! I kid you not, with the cars not moving the roads were now ice!

Round the island and onto the Aston Express Way towards the M6 on the slow but steady incline, the line of traffic stopped. So did I. But when the cars started moving again I could'nt. I got out touched the ground (very icy) looked at the person in the car behind me who was right on my bumper, held my hands up. I then sat back in my car turned the hazard lights on and put it into reverse and waited for the cars behind to move. Well if you saw a Green MX5 on the Aston express Way going backwards and forwards about 4 times, that was me. I got past the ice patch eventually then put the car in 1st and slowly made it to the M6.

Now it would appear everyone was stuck on the main roads and hadn't got to the M6, which was empty. Which was bad news as it meant there was only lane 2 cleanish of slush snow and ice. Anything over 40mph was a nightmare in my little car, so I just patently made my way slowly home.

The yellow haze caused by the yellow light being beamed from my fog lights.

A lorry overtakes me which is fine, hee'll clear the road for me.

Plenty of slush on the roads.

Taking it steady.

Well I got home and even got it up my estate and to the drive way. The next morning I opened the curtains and thought where's it all gone?

Thursday, February 08, 2007

Well you know I bought that new battery, it was a good thing as Thursday it snowed during the night.

What a pretty sight.

Tuesday, February 06, 2007

Well on the last day of my holiday my camera would no longer recharge it the battery. So I got the old box out and.....

Got it exchanged under warranty! Yep another digital camera to add to the collection. Mind I wanted a direct replacement for the Fuji Film V10 as it's so so so good a camera.

Well first morning back to work and as I drove down the road to the first junction I put my foot on the brake and my foot went ot the floor. Erm I didn't stop and luckily there was no one else coming. So I turned around and borrowed my Dad's car to go to work in. I thought this might be a wise time to get a battery for my Eunos as with the cold weather the battery doesn't hold its charge in the mornings.

When I tak the battery out of the car I find it is one of the orignal Panasonic batteries the cars came with which you can no longer obtain.

Well courtesy of MX5 parts and there next day delivery I got a proper expensive gel replacement battery for the Eunos. An expense I could have done without mind but it starts everytime now in the cold.

Sunday, February 04, 2007

Well we get up early in the morning and the weather in Calais is very British. The customs man is not happy about the state of my passport, which is something they did to it themselves when I flew home from Italy once. He recommends a new one, erm will it last another 3 years I'm thinking.

We board the ferry - and think of breakfast.

We sail on P&O's finest Pride of Canterbury. Smart clean and quiet empty.

We watch from our seats for the first sighting of Britain.

The Cav makes it back to Brum, 3 people, 3 snowboards, 1 set of skis, 3 big bags, 3 small bags and the bag with the electronic stuff in it. Can't see how I'm going to manage this in the future with my Eunos. Its nice to be back in a way I guess - you can taste that pollution.
