After going to bed at 4:16am I was glad to have slept in until 12:30ish. Sunday became a lazy day and after a very hot and powerful shower, we had a lovely restful day.

We watched some Red Dwarf and Dr Who.

Followed by dinner with Zoe’s parent's in a local pub. The journey home though in my MX5 was somewhat unnerving in the torrential rain which seemed to follow me all the way home down the motorway.

Saturday brought a night out to Stockport to go to the Stocktoberfest. First I went to see Matt at Woolton Park but by the time i got there he had broken the gokart Sad smile. So we went back to his played some Grand turismo, had a curry and got ready for a night out.

I was promised wrenches, big sausages and many many German beers.

And thats pretty much what we got.

And some of us a little too much perhaps.

There was a lot of beers to choose from.

The night flew by and before you knew it

It was time to go home.

Super Slim

Well the next PS3 is here. So lets all go out and buy it. Wait a moment the actual price tag isn’t any slimmer though?!? And whilst the machine is now old the games that are still coming out just get better and better. One ponders if the life span of the machine will outlast its technology unlike the machines of the past. No doubt fashion and keeping up with he Jones’s though will force a PS4. But will there be any point doing a technology jump. And with any, jump miniaturising technology seeing a smaller PS3 is no surprise keeping manufacture, transportation cost down. To me visually the Original FAT PS3 is a work of art. The slim needed for technology reasons and to keep up with the deaths of all the original FATS. And of course to help the world in combating power consumption. For some they will still moan about the lack of PS2 compatibly, but personally its just not needed. The FAT didn’t play all the games anyway and a PS2 is 20 quid on ebay. I will be keeping my art deco PS3 FAT for as long as it gives a heart beat. In the mean time I’ll be playing my slim till it dies or the PS4 comes out, after all I don’t want the jones to outdo me do I?

The winter tyre that isn’t

I decided it was time to swap the front tyres, with the wetter weather setting in. On the fronts I had the very very long lasting Michelin’s Pilots on. And being a Goodyear tyre fan I was looking around for what was available. On the rear I have the Goodyear efficiency grip. However there is now a new type of tyre you can buy, an All Season Tyre which is not only suitable for summer but is now also winter rated complete with the snowflake symbol to indicate this.

The Goodyear Vector 4 season seems to have great reviews and a wear rate the same as the the efficiency grip. To boot though they will be able to cope with snow here and in the Alpes on those holiday occasions.

For most people here in the UK though you won’t find them at a roadside retailer. Nope they are imported only from places such as which is where I got mine from. Booked them they came with in a few days and then I had them fitted at a local garage. Thumbs up service which was faultless. Although my wallet is now some £260 quid lighter……

Episodes From Liberty City

Playstation Plus let you play this for a while and if you wanted it you could have had it for a cheaper download price. And I downloaded and played it. And I liked it. I liked it more than the original game. But did I buy the download. No I went out and brought a hardcopy of it. Seems to be quiet hard to get around here too. I wasn’t the only person looking for it on Saturday.

PS2 and a bit Retro gamine SSX

Okay so we all know I like snowboarding. I love it. And I like a quick fix on the telly, of snowboarding that is. And so here we have SSX, can’t say I ever had this apart from on the PS1. So was it any good? yeah it was and still is. Grass roots and all that still very playable.

This game I used to have and hell I’m as good as this as snowboarding in real life. Top marks and set the standard.

That was until I played this. Crisper cleaner tighter better. Top marks wish I’d brought it all those years back.

Which brings me to this SSX on the PS3. Just got it and well was it going to be as exciting as the rest. Well graphically amazing as most PS3 games are. But addictive as the above PS2 game. Nope sorry you missed the whole Ideal of snowboarding. Something can’t be bettered as time moves on.

A bit of boarding

With a change of plan for the weekend and some nice weather I took my mom to Cannock shopping followed by some dinner at the Barns. When I got back the post amn had been and delivered another Red snowboarding jacket. Well you can’t have too many red snowboarding jackets can you? Later on I though what the hell lets go snowboarding and so headed on up to the Chill Fatore. A nice surprise the session was only £15 quid so it worked out a good price. might do it again soon on a Saturday night.

PS2 retro gaming–Metal Gear Solid 3

Yesterday I gave Metal Gear Solid 2 around 30 minutes of game time. Today I gave Metal Gear Solid 3 about 10 minutes. That was enough.

PS2 Retro Gaming – Metal gear Solid 2

Metal gear solid was awesome on the PS1 and here we have the next game on the PS2 is it awesome? Well after 30 minutes I guessed not. Was 30 minutes enough to give it a go. No it wasn’t so maybe I’’ll try again later.

PS2 retro gaming–God of War

Today a game that is different. It is a game of death death death. Cut and slash and a bit more cut and slash. In fact that seems to be the whole game. Gaphicaly nice, but just XXXXX. I was actually good at this game. But then pressing X takes many years of practice to perfect.

PS2 retro gaming OKAMI

Todays game is this….OKAMI I think, if I thought yesterdays intro was long hell this one goes on forever, hell lets get to the game and when I did I turned it off. Nice graphics and maybe a good game but I probably never know.

PS2 retro gaming Kindgom of Hearts

Todays game though the letter box is Kindom of Hearts, graphic nice, and once you get through the jaw droppingly dragging on forever intro and start it doesn't get any more interesting. I gave it an hour. Obviously for the slightly younger generation than myself, although I will return to see more.

PS2 retro gaming Prince of Persia

Todays game through the post was Prince of Persia, now I’m beginning to think that perhaps near the end of the life of the PS2 there was some good games. Good graphics and gameplay. I gave this one 30 mins before moving on.

Retro PS2 time

Thinking to myself what can  do now? I decide tro venture into the world of PS2 retro gaming. Now I did have a PS2 but I mainly used it as a DVD player. I had some games and mainly Grand Theft Auto series is what I played and that was about it. So in the gaming world what did I miss on. I ventured to IGN’s 100 best playstation 2 games and then got to ebay and so this is where the adventure in time begins. Shadow  of The Colossus, now I’ve only given this game 5 minutes. Looks good, and if I had enough time I want to play it. I just haven’t

A boring day to some

To some today would have been boring but for others who like looking at MX5’s it was a wonderland. I so I dragged my dad to Presott Hill for the annual Nation MX5 Owners Club Rally. For more pics click the image above.

And you could have prebooked a spot to go up the hill climb but I’d never treat my car so badly.

So we watched them pass with a burger and tea in our hands.

And occasionally there were a couple of Bugatties climbing the hill you could have a ride in.

And whilst people were enjoying the hill climb we were enjoying looking around the stalls buying stuff I didn’t need.

I so I came back with a new set of wiper arms, a new set of matt, some alloy wheel seal, an alloy wheel brush and I ordered a Mk3 exhaust for a mate. Best of all though I got my plaque for my boot and an Mx5 car mug. smashing.

Further car hunting

Today we have been out car hunting once more for low mileage Skoda Superb’s. Rare and here we have a midnight red, with cream interior all the way down in London Ilford. Yep round the corner from Dandy Cars. Meet up with the chap and went for a spin in this 30K miler. From here we went round the corner to the local Beefeater for dinner and then up to Newport Pagnal to see yet another 30K miler. Probably the least car I want to see of the day

. But in the flesh it has been by far the best car out of the lot. It was if it was brand new. I was totally smitten with this one and if it had been with a cream interior I would have brought it myself.

The iron lady

Well here its a film that I was expecting to be different to what it was. None entertaining and rather sad. However watchable right to the end, but I wish I hadn't.

It could be Les in the driving seat

If you want to see a review of an MX5 by someone who doesn’t like them. Notably its a Eunos Roadster VR Limited combination A.

A nice night out in Handsworth

Caught the train to Brum and meet some work colleges at the Brasshouse before heading over to Bernies and Grahams wedding reception for a dam good night out. Mind you this morning I feel rough.

Going the distance

Went to Huddersfield this morning to get an Mx5 boot lid. On the way back we stopped at Freankie and Bennies in Stockport. I wasn’t overly hungry and luckily found a sandwich and chips on the menu. The meal that turned up though was huge. One huge sandwich. Big as in big. I even went to B&M Home Bargains across the road. Here I got one of the Duvet covers they never seem to have at the stores back home. Oddy though the store in Stockport doesn’t seem to have the bed sheets. Now there’s plenty of them in the stores back home. Go figure.
