Modern Times

I have some deliveries this morning. Some Retro magazines I do not have.

And some more retro magazines I do not have.

And a new set of Panasonic phones for the house. Why you may ask. Well I wanted a set with an answer phone. I miss all those people leaving me messages asking me for quotes to do roofs. Anyway these were £30 off ebay.

Look good and newer than the ones my dad gave me.

Of course they are “new” and “fully working” having been sent back after a customer had decided they didn’t like them but with no instructions.

Of course I found out that the instructions missing was an important clue. Two of the three phones would connect to the base. And so the search goes onto the internet to find intructions. However instructions for this set seem to have never been put out there. So I read some other panasonic ones and there you go, how to reprogram the handsets to a new base. Would it be the same for this model? Yes it would. And then I thought. Would thsi also work with the old handsets making them work with new base? Wow yes it does!

My mom is dropped off and we go to catch the bus into town. Its too far for her to walk. So at the bus stop is the old fashioned way to catch a bus.

And on my phone is the new way, where you can see where the buses are.

It is however not as live as it should be. The bus comes, but the bus hasn’t come according to the phone app!

We get as much as we can carry.

I really could do with some loose tea. However not driving at the moment means Waitrose tea is too far away. I plumb for this but ponder if the description is saying its from the dregs of the floor. It seems to be everthing blended.

Later I’m in Aldi. And luckily while I’m in there I learn I need some paprki and chilli spices for the sweet potatoes I brought from the Green Grocier earlier.

Tuna And Cucumber

Friday and while the pills work, 5 minutes upright is more than enough to want to lye down again. So I do. For some reason though I have got a craving for Tuna and cucumber sandwiches. Yep I can’t get enough of them.

Later that afternoon at about 5pm I get up and go to the sofa for most of the evening, I have to call Les to tell him it looks like I won’t be fit to travel in the morning….

Red Herring

Having only been so very very very ill living on my own once, it wasn’t pleasant when I needed help. This morning though I was in a mess and struggled. I get up and feel out of balance. I’m as usual getting up in autpiolt but ealrier as I need to be at work by 7am. However I need to hold both banasters as I go down the stairs. When I walk across the living room it is all moving. By the time I reach the bathroom the world is spinning and I’m vomiting. At least I made it to the bathroom. I very soon learn that being on the floor is the most comfortable place to be. If I lift my head I want to vomit almost immeditetly. So I can’t get up… I crawl back to the living room grab the phone and call the parents for help. The phone is not answered. I need to be vomit again. I crawl to the bathroom and throw. I call and call until the phone is answered. And then I throw up again. And then I phone work, where the only person the phone call goes to is the MD being so early, and whom seems more concered than my parents, as they know I live alone and can proably here I’m in distress. When the parents do turn up and it seems an awful long time to not move on the bathroom floor, they need to phone the doctor. Who is it? good knows? but it is the Red Lion surgery I know that.

The doctor says thats the blocked ear is in fact a red herring and that the problem is Menieres Disease. Soemthing I’ve not heard of before, but then again I didn’t know what shiningles was either this time last year.

I get given some tablets and are reassurade that in about an hour I should be able to move in less discomfort. Some 6 hours later I move to the sofa. By 9pm I’m around my parents house and in my old bed. And that journey was horrible, really horriable. I am however not alone here and being looked after nicely.

Lets just say it is not pleasant. God I hope these pills keep working.

Red Lion

I probably haven’t slept that well for a long long time. I get up and get ready to be collected to be taken to North Wales. I hope there is a solution to the problem. A problem I was not expecting and is going to cause a whole lot of grief.

Back at home early, mainly from getting to site early I decide to go to the doctors without an appointment and see if my ear can be taken a look at. I’ve had blocked ears before but this is whistling too like never before.

To be frank I expected them to say there were no appointments, even though I was willing to sit and wait until the closed. As it happens they had no slots, but she suggested that they could try me booking into the hospital N Surgery. There was two slots, one with a nurse early and one with a doctor later. I went with the doctor one in case it was an ear infection.

To burn some time and because Specsavers keep contacting me about my contact lens check-up I go on the off chance they will see me too. Also being the fact that I have my contact lenses in today having gone to site. They will at a certain time. So I go and get some dinner and George & Berties around the corner.

Before you know it I’m in Specsavers and they are doing their thing. They are however trying to change my contact lenses “to something that would be cheaper for me”. One ponders though if these new type lenses I have and as I claim “the best ever contact lenses I’ve ever had” have not been widely sold and now they want to discontinue them. As noted by the optician the daily ones don’t come in my exact prescription, But they are going to send me some to try anyway.

after going home and doing some work, work, and go back to the hospital where I get to see a doctor quickly. The diagnosis is my right ear is completely blocked and the left one isn’t far behind. You can definitely hear with you left one? Yes. Well the left one we can’t see if there is an infection as there is too much wax. You need to go back to your surgery and arrange to have the wax removed. I go back to the Red Lion Surgery which is still open. I explain only to be told that there is a 3 week wait to see the nurse! What! This is driving me mad! I need the wax out this week. As such I either need to wait until 11am when the doctor will receive the report from upstairs and put in a request for the ear clean or call at 8am and make an appointment to see him. I love this place.

I go home do some more work and then decide to put the tent up. How big is it and is it small enough to put it up myself?

Well its bigger than I expected, and I can’t seem for the life of me to get the front beam in the tags at the bottom. I can however get the done up on my own, and its a tall dome. I ponder if it is as big as the other tent. Well its not but I think it is as tall.

My parents come round, see my ear is doing my head in and go to a fish and chip shop to get me some tea.

I admire the flowers that sprung to life.

When will my other plants grow?

I plant some of the plants from the pots.

Here and there.

Grow plants grow.

The small roses seem to have taken nicely.

And the crimson ones too.

Although the vine does not seem to have established yet. Its the single leaf in the top right hand corner.

With that I get ready to go to bed.

As the sun sets I have no idea what I’m going to wake up to.

I Tug Harder

Today has been the first day Waze has told me to use the M6. So I follow its instructions. At the Legendary RAC center the M6 grinds to a halt.

According to Waze a lorry has caught fire and well we are going to be here for some time. Briilant.

A while later we are slowly moving foward.

And the scene of the diasaster is ahead of us. IMG_20160726_085919

One hopes they got out alright.

Can you imagine the call to the boss. “You know that delivery I was ment to be making this morning….”

Anyone going north bound, just wasn’t, for miles, even when I got off for Birmingham the queue went on for as long as you could see.

Some time later back home, I can’t open the back door. All the locks are open but the paint is firmly fixed to the door and the door frame.

I tugg harder and luckily the door frame stays in place whilst the door moves. You never know with this house. Outside my plant in the pots are doing well and need planting soon or giving away.

I have also received a postcard from the Blue Dot Festival Smile. I hope the weather kept well for them and they all had a great time. The big dish looks awsome.

Rog turns up, he doesn’t want tea, he doesn’t want to mow the lawn. I explain how tired I am and also my ear issue, but hey I still want to go. Rog gets a plant, although what he is actually getting I don’t know!

And so at 8:45pm we head off down tot he bottom of the road, to

the Chase Leasure Center.

Yes we actually get some exercise! It is good, it is wonderful, oh my how I forget how much I love to swim in water. I’m now so very very clean.
