Matt, Les and Myself sit outside and have a cup of tea. Two of us have breakfast. The other just enjoys a cup of tea. I find out two of my other parcels are in two very different places. One is at the post office needing collecting. And one is damaged at the couriers going nowhere. I contact the supplier and then head to the post office. Les has come to take us to Coventry Motofest, but first I take him to the post office, which is very local, and very popular right at that moment in time. The third year I will have been, and I enjoying going with Les, that is Mototfest, not the post office. And while I’m sure Matt would have enjoyed it, he is keen to get home, again Motofest, not the post office.
We take a leisurely walk down the canal towards the city centre. The air is warm, the skies are blue and its good to get away from normality.
We get hold of a couple of maps and plan a rough route starting at
The initial hub of the epic, at the Coventry Transport Museum.
There are many classic cars to see, and some surprise ones which you may have thought would have rotted away by now.
And while Coventry is where it all started, Japan is where it was perfected.
And this one came with the ultimate accessory. I must tell Wheeler Dealers about this.
If only I had an aerial that would stay up instead of popping up and down all the time.
You see I like it here, because of the variety. Its a peoples show.
And because there are Mx5’s here.
We look at something more suitable for him.
I lovely little motor.
Around the corner are some more. Wow look at this.
Back to normality.
We stop for a decaf coffee that isn’t decaf, in a recyclable coffee cup that isn't recyclable.
The layout is better again this year. More street focused, more in the publics way, to make it part of every day life.
And there is always something new to see.
Sometimes the older ones are more interesting, just like talking to older people in real life.
Here I stop a moment and have a chat to an owner a Lancaster.
This represents the now, the fast pace, the minimalist now.
At first it surpasses Les.
And its always good to see the Jags, the jags with the famous V12.
Yeah my dad used to have one of these.
But not one of these.
We refuel on the grass for a while and then mooch some more towards the Ring Road Circuit.
It is so dam good this year.
However there is only so much excitement ones bladder can take.
And we head into Ikea for some relief and tea.
I sit and relax for a moment wondering what wonderfulness the day will finish with.
Ah a visit to a car park.
Where the drifters play.
Some are bigger than others.
But then there is small perfection.
Joyfulness in abundance.
Theres only so much fun you can have though.
oh go on then show us more.
We crave more.
err whats that smell?
Is he out of control?
No I won't be doing this in mine.
Erm, show off comes to mind.
And so the circuit is cleared away.
I so want to fix it for them.
And with that
The excitment of the day is nearly all over.
We head back to the place the car is parked.
And consider that I must have a tan by now.
This is it then. This is goodbye Coventry.
And Les drives home nicely.
Of course if you have a camper van and its just not big enough…..
Some time late the blind is up. Now will I be able to have a deep sleep lie in until getting up time? Will I?
