I get up and the weather is good. It really doesn’t matter how tired I am, or that it is 10:30am, and I have slept through even with the curtains open. Man I must have been tired. No matter what there is a delivery coming tomorrow and we need to be ready for it. I get my scruffs on and get out there.
I move all the bricks to the back making room for the delivery.
My dad turns up
and starts work on the path,
while I destone the drive,
and try to flatten it. That’s as good as it get s then.
I go and get the membrane. It is 25m long by 2meters wide. Has a ten year guarantee but more importantly
it is specifically for drives without a layer of MOT and then 2” inches of sand under it, yet it should distribute the cars wheel weights with causing ruts.
A while later it is laid out, pegged down and triple layered.
I brick it down in case it gets windy over night, and with the light fadding
We pack up. I’m ready for the delivery, although I am to knackered to carry on.
Whilst in the garden I collect the firestick lanterns.
With the cold and the short dark days, it is now time to bring them in, so that the batteries will still be good for next year.
I find a window sill to put them on.
They will look good here for now.
I head over for Sunday dinner around my parents, then have a long warm bath, before sitting on the sofa with the cat and enjoying the film Oblivion. It was good to see, but it was even better to close my eyes.
